Hello Friends!
I’m Sarah. The owner and creator behind Primrose Lane Prims. I’m so glad you stopped by! Come on in and stay a while. Here at Primrose Lane, we are all friends!
The Journey to Primrose Lane
I grew up in the beautiful scenic hills of West Virginia. Growing up my mother owned a small crafts and supplies store. I spent a lot of time there as a child watching her pursue her love of crafting and creating. The smell of fresh cut wood, paint, hot glue, and the sound of her little shop’s jingling doorbell were daily staples of my childhood. I’ll be honest… I was bored out of my mind most of the time and I probably drove my mom a little crazy complaining about that previously mentioned boredom. Despite that disinterest as a child, here I am as an adult finding happiness following the same path! Seriously though, all jokes aside, my parents were a big inspiration in my life. My mother for always going after what she loved and my father for always supporting her! Serious relationship goals, but that’s another story.
So how did I end up here at Primrose Lane? I attended college and received multiple degrees in Psychology, Nursing, and Education. After college I married my hometown sweetheart, David, and we went on to have four amazing kids! That’s right friends, four! Life with four kids is an amazing adventure full of love and laughter but it can also be messy and chaotic at times. I mean, it’s practically a zoo. It’s loud, there is usually a funny smell coming from somewhere, something always needs to be fixed or cleaned, and someone is always hungry! It did not take me long to realize I needed more time at home with my kiddos, so I left the professional world to begin my career as a stay at home mom. It was during this time that I discovered my love of crafting. Crafting was and is a way for me to relax and decompress after a stressful day. I finally understood why my mom liked it so much! I began giving my crafts to family and friends as gifts. I got such a positive response that it led to me participating in local craft/vendor shows. I began to have local residents of my small community requesting orders and I even opened an Etsy store called…you guessed it! Primrose Lane Prims.
Along the way, I also found a love of cooking/baking and extending my DIY skills to minor home improvements. Remember how I said earlier that when you have four kids someone is always hungry and something always needs fixed? Ya, that can burn a hole in your wallet fast! I found that I loved spending time in the kitchen and being creative to prepare cost effective meals and desserts that my family will actually eat! I also found I had a talent in DIY around the house as well as in budget friendly non-demo renovations. My husband also enjoys this so we found it an activity we can do together. You may see him here from time to time!
After years of crafting and creating, I made the decision to take the next step in my journey. I wanted to create a place where I can share my love of budget friendly DIY crafts, home improvement, baking, kids, and life! And so here we are! I hope to help encourage and inspire others in their creative journey and to help show others that having a beautiful home doesn’t have to be expensive.
I am so excited to share my knowledge of budget friendly DIY and Crafting with all of you! Life can be expensive but having a beautiful home doesn’t have to be. Now, go grab your paint brushes and lets get creative!
